Scotland's Boat Show 2021 Cancelled
With the uncertainty surrounding the ongoing restrictions on large scale events due to the pandemic, we are disappointed to announce the cancellation of Scotland’s Boat Show 2021. Our prime consideration is always the safety of our staff, visitors & exhibitors. Therefore, given the levels of safety protocols and the required changes to the show infrastructure, together with the uncertainty around further restrictions, we believe this to be the correct, albeit extremely disappointing, course of action. Scotland’s Boat Show 2021 Cancelled
Scotland’s Boat Show 2021 Cancelled With the uncertainty surrounding the ongoing restrictions imposed upon large scale events due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we are disappointed to announce the cancellation of Scotland’s Boat Show 2021, due to take place this October here at Kip Marina, Inverclyde. Our prime consideration is always the safety of our staff, visitors & exhibitors. Therefore, given the levels of safety protocols and the required changes to the show infrastructure, together with the uncertainty around further restrictions, we believe this to be the correct, albeit extremely disappointing, course of action. Presenting Scotland’s Boat Show each year takes an enormous effort, both from the team here at Kip Marina, and from our exhibitors who invest expertise, time, and money, to ensure a successful show. Consequently, we believe it prudent to make this announcement now, rather than risk a postponement later with a potentially damaging financial impact to our exhibitors. We would like to thank all our sponsors, partners, exhibitors, and of course visitors, for their past and continued support, especially the team at EventScotland for their support of the event as part of Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters 20/21. “Despite the huge effort already made by our […]

The Great Rotary Duck Race
The Great Rotary Duck Race You can take part in the Great Rotary Duck Race at Scotland’s Boat Show (actually you can’t take part unless you’re a plastic duck and if you are one, what are you doing reading this – shouldn’t you be in someone’s bath) when we release 200 numbered plastic ducks back in to the wild at the Kip River (that’s the river that runs in to Kip Marina) and see which of these speedsters crosses the finishing line first! There are two Heats on Saturday and again on Sunday with the Grand Final on Sunday afternoon when the winner will be crowned and served up with pancakes and plum sauce (That’s a joke and no ducks will be harmed in the race preparation). If you’ve always fancied a duck (insert your own joke here) you can sponsor one of these Yellow Fellows for the race at the Gourock Rotary Stand in the RYA Scotland pavilion and be in with a chance of winning a great prize and supporting the charitable work of Rotary in Gourock. To keep the SSPPD (Scottish Society for the Protection of Plastic Ducks) happy we will have Coastguards on hand in case […]

I have been a professional artist for many years, studying in Hampshire and in Glasgow, originally working as a textile designer, before demand grew and I made the decision to concentrate my work solely on painting. Exhibiting extensively across the UK, including several sold-out exhibitions, I have been lucky enough to have many collectors including celebrities, politicians, and companies, with customers in the USA, Canada, Ireland, across Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Design and art work has been commissioned and purchased by – among others – The National Trust for Scotland, Glasgow Galleries and Museums, Scottish Tourist Board, the Edinburgh Festival Company, for castles, hotels, company offices, and by many private collectors around the world. Selected for the Scottish Artists Gallery at the John Lewis store in Glasgow. Gallery exhibitions include Glasgow, Helensburgh, Ayrshire, Stirling, Perthshire, Yorkshire, Lancashire, Bristol. My work has been featured in a number of magazines and newspapers, and has been described as ‘one of the modern Scottish Colourists’.

Nautical 3d charts is a small one person business based in the beautiful scottish borders. My interest in nautical charts is from my background working at sea and serving with h.m.coastguard. I make each piece to your individual requirements using nautical charts from around the world mostly admiralty charts produced by the ‘u.k.hydrographic office’. Choose your favourite sailing area ,or your favourite coastal walk. I will search out a chart for the area and send you a few images of your selected area for you to approve and then start the process of producing your special piece of art.

The Knox anchor has the highest holding power of any commercial anchor for leisure boats. It was invented in Scotland by Professor Knox, and is made in Scotland, (perhaps the only remaining anchor made here?). New generation anchors are far superior in performance to older models, copies of which are still available. Some consider an anchor an item unlikely to be used, but like other safety equipment, when you really need it, it is some assurance that yours will work. No-one would rely on a 1930’s design of lifejacket today, but we cling on to 1930’s designs of anchors, ignoring the huge difference in materials and design. Come and see a Scottish made Knox anchor at the show. Check our website for details of what customers have said about the Knox Anchor.
